I’m getting close to quarter of a century, that’s good news. Although I wanted to own 1000 titles by the end of 2017, it seems like a far fetched dream given the input costs. I’ve spent close to INR 35k on these titles, and I’m running out of money because of other lifestyle costs.
It’s been a while since I wrote here, a couple of weeks, thanks to the many things changing around me. It’s another thing that I’m writing this piece at 6:30 AM on a Thursday morning, I clearly don’t have plans to go to work today – thanks to the cold.
The menu card had changed, it was a clumsy, colorful large laminated handout. The place hardly had any customers in there. The waiters had changed, the bartenders I knew were no longer working there and even the floor managers I knew weren’t to be seen anywhere. The items on the menu had changed and I could no longer order my regulars.
The fluttering wings woke me up this morning. She had returned, perched on the window grill, wanting to jump across …
I’ve even walked out of the examination hall, not finishing the paper, not bothering about marks lost. If I knew I’d pass, it was enough. I used to happily walk out of the hall to have breakfast or a smoke, may be.
I’m splurging my money on other things and I’ve to save some for the future too. I couldn’t spend a lot on movies in October because of that.
“Too many minds. No mind” says Nobutada in the movie The Last Samurai
We’ve lost hope one too many times and that makes us cautious about the new-age politicians. We don’t have any choice but to take everything with a pinch of salt, that’s the damage our ‘system’ has taken.
When I look at that pile of letters, the DVD collection, the stamps and coins I collected, the stack of audio casettes my parents collected, those old meaningful songs – Hindi, Kannada, ABBA, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple .. -, I certainly feel nostalgic.
When we, as people and as humans, don’t respect our own lives, the politicians who bathe in money and power day and night are, in fact, being generous in pegging the value of your life to that of a car.
The corporate world is ruthless in the way it functions. You ought to run with them if you want to succeed in your career. But, at what cost?
WordPress has been a great platform for me. Although it’s a blogging platform first, the fabulous WordPress Community acts as a social network. It’s a good parallel to the social networks like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The role of the society in people’s personal lives is too intrusive, personal spaces are not respected and them young ‘uns are just expected to fall in line per the elders’ wishes.
Till date, apart from English, Hindi and Kannada movies, I had bought a couple of Marathi titles in addition to 1 Punjabi title from the Cinemas of India collection. This time, I chanced upon some Bengali movies – 7 of them.
And then I saw the girl with the dog walked past our house. That’s all she does in her life, I guess. May be she works somewhere, but whenever I see her she’s walking her dog in the neighborhood. She lives just up my street and has a granny who’s acquainted with Mum.
However, there is this guy called Dangling Pointer, a scary bastard who continues to exist even though he isn’t aware where he came from. Bastard, truly! He is stuck between life and death, he will never be killed for real unless someone pulls the plug, literally. Hand of God, eh?

A peculiar thing I observed a couple of weeks after I bought the work is that the girl with the umbrella has only one leg. The knowledge of this has given the art piece a bit of a horror theme to it in my mind. Is she a ghost?
There are solutions – we should really look at de-urbanization plans and as humans, it’s more important now, than ever in history, to reconnect with Mother Nature and bow to her powers than trying to bind her to control her.
B-ve is quite rare, only 1 in 67 or about 1.5% of the world’s population are part of this group. I decided never to say no to any case that demands my blood.
