A walk through the tunnel

I held a lamp to show you the way,
You blew the flames and pushed me away,

I stood behind you, watched you walk,
through the tunnel, through the dark,

You shivered, afraid you were, your mind
Filled with nothing but fear, fear of losing everything, your self,

I stretched my hand to walk you through, again,
You held it this time, leaving behind all the pain,

I guided you through the curves and the bends,
Pointing towards  the light at the tunnel’s end,

You were filled with joy, elated you ran,
I called your name twice, you never looked back,

Picking up the lamp, I turned around hoping
For light at the other end, I walked back all alone..
